Bats & Pecan Orchards for Regenerative Pest Control
We recently partnered with the world-renowned Merlin Tuttle of Merlin Tuttle's Bat Conservation in an effort to control pests in our pecan orchards using native Texas bats in our area. 16 bat houses of two different designs have been installed in our improved pecan orchards, and controlled experiments will be conducted by Merlin's team to identify the species of bats that inhabit our houses and the specific insects they feed on.
Our hope is that these experiments will show that our native Texas bats feed on pecan orchard pests, and will therefore be an environmentally beneficial and cost-saving alternative to conventional pest control methods.
We invite you to join us on this expedition as we are one of the first pecan orchards in Texas to explore these types of alternative pest control methods.
